What is frustration?

How to overcome frustration?? How does it affect our lives, our work, and our productivity???

Life is not a bed of roses!! I remember reading this quote every day while I was at school. I didn't know it had such a deep meaning attached to it. For me then, it was just another thought which we used to put up on the school's notice board. But as I grew up, I realized that this was a lesson for life which was somehow given to us since childhood. When I look at my life today, and when I look around; every person has some or the other frustration. Frustration at home, frustration from the job, frustration among friends, and the list is endless. It is, however, very important to overcome frustration while in all spheres of life. It is important to maintain a work life balance. Ensuring a peaceful work-life will consequently enhance one's productivity.

The first thing that probably upsets a service provider or a freelancer is the favor that people start expecting from that person. To an extent, it is ok to volunteer, but when people start asking for free work, it is degrading. It actually is a disrespect to one's talent. Thus, a general yet an important advice to everyone reading this is to never ask for free favors from a professional. However not every person is capable of doing so on their own. Some people stand strong whatever may the situation be, while some others need a push. So here are some tips which will give you the required push to overcome frustration and stay strong in life.

1. Stay Calm

Losing one's calm is the first thing that happens after a frustration triggers anxiety. Stop right there, take a deep breath and just do that for at least 10 breaths. You can also calm down by closing your eyes and focusing on something that can instantly make you happy. This will help you to clear your mind and reflect upon the problem well.

2. Analyze the problem

Well, be it a work place or a personal life situation, analyzing the problem properly is very important. Define the problem clearly to yourself so that you could find an apt solution to it. Analyze the different perspectives related to it. Also, deciding whether the matter is of any importance to you will help you make the right decision.

3. Be positive

This is the most common advice anyone would give you. But trust me, it is not just common, it is also very important for you. Especially when a person is low, he should gather all the courage to fight back and not let it go. Staying positive attracts all the positive energy from the environment and give you strength.

4. Acceptance

We are all human beings and so we all tend to make mistakes. It becomes very difficult if a person does not admit his mistakes. Acceptance is the first step towards rectification of errors. Once we are able to find out the root cause, we also to some extent become capable of overcoming our shortcomings.

5. Live your life with Confidence

Come what may, you should never lose it!! Be it your personal or your work life, you should have that confidence in yourself to be able to fight all circumstances and overcome frustration. After all, there is a silver lining in the dark cloud as well.

Frustration and anxiety happen to everyone, every single person for that matter. The key point to overcome frustration is to manage your emotions well. Don't lose the ability to think and act in the best way possible. We cannot avoid frustrations in life because they are situational. But we can learn to manage and overcome frustration by acting wisely.
